I installed a Audiovox Prestige Platinum 996 on a 1999 Ford Expedition. Everything is working just fine, but when you remote start the truck, the 4x4 light on the dash continues to blink. This does not occur when you start the truck with the original factory car key.
I noticed that this truck has 3 ignition wires, but the remote start only requires the use of the 1st and 2nd. Could this be the problem?
Please Advise........

YES! You must hook up all ignition wires. Alarms have usually 2 because they try to fit the standard for most cars out there. You need to add a ignition wire. Easiest way is to splice off one ignition wire, wire that to pin 85 on relay, 86 and 87 to +12V, and 30 to the ignition you need to power up. Most ignitions power things like fuel, spark, and tranny. If you drive the car with that light on, there is a possiblilty you can damage the transmission.
12V|yellow, grn/purple |+ |ignition harness
| STARTER|RED / lt. blue |+ |ignition harness
| IGNITION|blue/lt. green |+ |ignition harness
| SECOND IGNITION|gray / YELLOW |+ |ignition harness
| ACCESSORY|RED / black |+ |ignition harness
| SECOND ACCESSORY|BLACK/ green |+ |ignition harness
The gray / YELLOW wire is actually an accessory wire, and not an ignition wire. You need to connect to all 3 accessories and the ignition wire.
it is not required to power up the blk green acc wire it powers up things like the radio it is only required if you have electronic climate controls

also on 2002 f 150 and epedition with the shift on the fly 4x4 feature made after november and thru 2003 even if you power up all ign and acc the vehicle must be shut down and restarted with the key or else the shift on the fly functio could fail. ford put out a TSB (technical service bulletin) on this concern

I doubt what is listed above. Could that be because a certain acc. wire is hooked up as an ignition instead of as an acc. wire? I've seen on an Excursion the overhead fuel gauge not work properly if that happens. If all wires are hooked up the way they are from the factory, the truck doesn't know if a remote starter started the truck, the key started it, or god himself.
Thanks for all your help. It sounds like I need to hook up another relay for the ignition or accessory wire that is left. I will test the wire just to make sure that it is correct and hook up the relay accordingly.
Thanks
