I am trying to install a remote starter for a manual transimission vehical.8D

Obviously, a disable circuit is needed when the stick is in gear.

I would like to know if anyone has implemented some clever scheme to detect the stick in gear? What about the reverse light that comes on when in reverse? Can that be some how used for all the gears?

Let's hear your ideas or implementations!

Using the search would be good for starters. Reed switch, e-brake-switch or light(gauge cluster), magnetic type. Search is a good thing.
