i have worke on a few nissan pathfinders, all 1990-1995, with the same motors, and i have tryed everything to get them to start on cold days, they just don't.  I connected the tech wire to the tac, nothing, tryed revving the engine 200 rpm higher to set the tac so it cranks more, but still not enough, i tryed the fuel injectors, and tryed the revving the engine higher to set the tac senceing, but still no start when its cold, all the pathfinders just crank and fire once or twice, they do the blub blub die kinda deal, , , , any idea's??

Did you have the cold start starter wired in to these trucks ? You have to have both start wires hooked up in order for the vehicle to start properly in colder temps. They are usually BLACK / YELLOW and the best way to do this is to add another relay like this.

whell, i put the relay on my truck last night, and it seems to have worked, but it hasn't been below freezing today, , tomorrow morning it will be about -3 degrees celcius, so i'll give it a test.

Hmm at least you got your troubleshooting down for not starting when cold posted_image Definately post an update for us but I can almost guarantee that's your problem..I usually just tie both wires together you can do that if you don't have any relays handy it won't hurt anything. Couse the relay method is considered the "proper" way of doing things..You will run into the 2 starter wires on Nissans often and a couple other random cars as well so keep and eye out and check the info for them first they usually list it. Good luck,

Mike

Whell, the relay worked on my pathfinder, but not on one of my best customers pathfinder, it dosn't start on first crank, but does on 2nd crank.

What would it be?? its a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder, Automatic, V6 3.0L, and the starter is an Autostart AS-1230.

He just got a new fuel pump, and now he's getting new plugs since they haven't been chaged in 3 years.  But if new plugs dosn't solve it, what could it possibly be??  the starter only cranks for like 2 seconds, it dosn't even let the engine fire.  I did the tac search about 20 times, i even tryed setting it 500rpm higher, still no start  on first crank.

Help!
