I have installed the Black widow 4150 on my 1989 ford f-150 and i cant get it to work completely right. First of all the LED is not bright. I think that there might be a problem with the ground. I know that I hae wired all the other wires the the approiate wires. On the install directions it says to connect a cerain wire to the negative wire for the door trigger. There isnt a wire to do that so would it be the same to just tie it into any ground. I did that and it hasnt worked . I am going to try a few different things but if any one has any comments or suggestions please let me know.

The door trigger wire is to triiger the alarm when the system is armed and the door is opened. If you ground it permanently, then your alarm will think the door is always open. You didn't give us too much info though either so I cant say what is wrong. Does nothing work at all? That is a pretty straight forward vehicle to install on so I am not sure what you could have done wrong. Did you test all of the wires before you soldered your connections to make sure they are all correct? Where did you put your ground wire?

what its probably meaning is connect the green wire for a negative door trigger. if your vehicle has a negative door trigger according to the tech soft software a 89 ford f series truck has a positive door trigger so you would use the purple wire, and not the green, so the green wouldnt be used. as for the LED's black widows are notorious for having faulty leds that sometimes dont work at all. i

does anyone know about the door locks for the same system. I think that i have to have a seperate relay for them to work is that true?

You should have a 2 pin connector with a green and a blue wire. You will need 2 relays to trigger the door locks since they are 5 wire reverse.
Look at the relays section on this website for a diagram.

It is actually a 3 pin connector with a green a blue and a red. The red is a constant feed of 12volts. Will the one relay from Black widow work or would i have to buy to of them also. If I didnt buy it from Black widow would i be able to use a relay sold at like auto zone?

Yes, any standard 30 amp 12v automotive SPDT relay will work fine. You need 2 total, just like the diagram shows. One for lock and one for unlock.
Right, I couldnt remember if it had a red wire too. you dont really need that wire though since you will need 12v+ constant from a main power wire like the one you grabbed in the main ignition harness. Just put Pins 87 and 86 from each relay to 12v+ constant, then the 85 pins go to the blue nd green wires on the 3 pin plug. then you cut the two factory wires and the side of the wire that goes to the lock actuator goes to pin 30 of its respective relay (match lock wire of vehicle with lock wire from RS), and the other side of the cut wire goes to pin 87a of its respective relay.

its my first time here, im asking the next thing i have installeda viper 550esp into a grnd am 2000 and i installed the remote starter wtih the bypass system, but i have trouble,sometimes the car doesnt starts and i cant even start it with its own key i think maybe i conected the baypass wrong so i would like to know if you could tell me how is the correct way of conecting it,sometimes the message of the car panel light the security one

I tried to put in the keyless entry feature on my 1989 ford f-150 yesterday and it didnt work. The diagram on this website for 5-wire alternating was the one that i thought was supposed to work but all it did was blow the inline fuse on the 12volt constant feed to the relays. I am positive that I had all the wires going to the right place according to the 5-wire diagram. I think that this system is some sort of reversal system. First of all what type of wire configuration is my truck and how do i wire it up so that the alarm and switch will unlock my doors? Thanks, Tim McKay

well, it sounds like you may have wired the switch and motor wires backwards. put your factory lock/unlock wires back together. with your dmm, test your wires for lock and unlock. find your lock wire first. cut it in half.(at this point your locks should not be working from the switch in driver's door) next, meter both ends of the lock wire you just cut in half. with the lock switch depressed, your meter should show 12v. (this is your switch side) with the lock switch depressed, the other side of the wire should read 0v.(this is the motor side) [if you depress the unlock switch, while testing the lock wire you cut in half, your motor side will read 12v and the switch side will read 0v.] reversing polarity! by cutting one wire in half at a time, this eliminates any cunfusion as to lock/unlock motor side/switch side. bw4150,right? your mini relay pack that came with the alarm should be wired as follows: violet and violet/black -------12v constant green--------------lock motor side white--------------lock switch side blue----------------unlock motor side brown------------unlock switch side hope this helps!!!

the alarm didnt come with a mini relay pack so i went to auto zone and bought two relays to wire it up like the diagram shows on this site for the 5 wire switch. well that doesnt work so what else do i do. i understand about the polarity and everything and i hooked up everything right, well let me ask a question i took for granted that the lock side of the switch was automatically on the side that the lock depression switch was is that bad cause i didnt check it with my dmm i guess i should have huh? what do u suggest to do as of now cause i am back at square one with the lock wires just connected back like they priginally were. i want to get this thing working cause that is one of the main reason that i bought a stupid alarm to stinking unlock my doors with a remote. thanks and sorry about the frustration.
