Ok, i've got a '96 Mustang that currently has an alarm that was installed about 6years ago. I've had it disabled for almost 2 years because some wires got cut up do to heavy foot traffic and not the best install in the world.

This alarm currently has flashing lights, led light, door lock/unlock, shock sensor (single stage), 6 tone siren and about it...it's a non-branded model

I'm looking for something with the same features and possible an option to add remote trunk opener and that has glass sensor.

Can someone recommend me a system? I'd prefer to buy one and install it myself than pay someone. I'm never happy the way others do installations in my car..therefore I now install everything myself.

I don't know if I should just go with a VIper system, Hornet, Prestige? Anyone? also, where would be a good place to shop for an alarm system.

Thanks!

Gabe

Almost everything made by DEI is very good (i.e. Viper, Clifford, Hornet, etc.) and will have all the features that you listed above.  I have done tons of Prestige alarms as well and like those also.  I would recommend that you stay with a name that you know versus trying something new.

I'm not certain where you live, but it may be best to buy the product online.  Most retailers (such as Circuit City or Best Buy) sell the product, but it includes the installation and you indicated that you would like to install it yourself.

There are tons of distributor out there, but I use Installation Distributors in Deer Park, NY.  They do not currently have a web site, but you should be able to find a number for them.

Are you an installer? i've called around...and so far 3 retailers will not sell me the systems alone posted_image. I don't know of any local distributors. I'm from DEEP South Texas. I'm still searching can't find any yet...
