It's been a few years since I've installed remote starts and I'm stuck on my boss's audi a6.

It remote starts fine if the key is in the ignition or close to it. If not, it may or may not start and the security light will blink until the engine is shut off and restarted with the key.

Is this a transponder set-up? Does anyone have any tips?

It looks like the steering wheel needs to come off to get the lower column cover off(I can see what is probably screw holes in there) and I'd like to avoid that if I can. So wire colors/locations would be great.

Since I'm new here, coffee is on me.

Sounds like a transponder to me...

you will have a very tough time taking off the lower steering wheel shroud.

just undo the bottom screws ( or remove the wheel to access the hidden screws on the from side of the shroud) and bend it down to get your transponder wraps around the barrel.
