Hey Guys....Im sure someone must be able to help me out here.... ATTEMPTING to install one of those "cheapy" PROSTART car starters in a 2000 Cavalier with the 2.2. APPARENTLY the ignition only creates ONE pulse per revolution as opposed to the usual 2 on a conventional ignition in a 4 banger. Does ANYONE have any idea where to put the "tach" wire? The Negative side of the coil is a no go and someone had suggested a "tach adapter" a la Auto Meter etc.....Would an injector pulse work? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys
Tim
Use the injector for the tach signal is the ProStart tach input is not sensitive enough to pick up the normal tach wire output.

Tim
Yes, use the uncommon colored one and doesn't matter which injector you use.

Jeff? HEEEEELLLP! Okee heres what we got so far...tried injector #4 Two wires coming off the injector plug...Neither one works...Now what? Is there a 3rd wire somewhere Im missing? *beats head on desk*
Thanks again
Tim
So the Prostart isn't learning the tach at all ?? That is very weird. Make sure that you are going through the steps properly & one more thing............... Prostart's are infamous for
not programming the remote's and the tach signal

Well heeeere we go again....Did the programming thing now about 15 times...lol FINALLLY got something..but not much so i wont hold my breath..The car does in fact start..for about 2 seconds...then shuts off...Im not sure what i did different other than keep on pluggin at programming that thing ..... Well Jeff....any ideas? Obviously you know more about these things than I do...and by the way..thanks for you help so far!
Tim
Unfortunately, if the car starts and shut off again within a couple of seconds, the tach wire is not programmed properly or you have a weak tach signal. Did you try going to the tach wire at all ?
TACHOMETER PURPLE / white in the engine harness next to the battery, below the radiator hose, just above the transaxle.
