Hey guys, I love this site. I am a huge car nut. mostly performance and exterior. I have alot of expierience with car audio. Yet I have none with car alarms. I own an 03 focus zx3, that will be getting alot of electronics in the future, which I will definatly enquire about on here. Thats not the ride with questions. For my dads birthday I got him a keyless entry system (crimestopper 865) and a power door lock kit. He got an awesome 2003 ram but didn't get pwr locks. This is what I know: I have searched the site for about 3 days. I have the Ram color code. I know it is heavily asked about on here. I understand that the door actuators can be time consuming but are basically simple especially in a big truck. Here are my questions: It looks like the crime stopper that I ordered is going to come with a wire harness, now I understand all these wires have a destination somewhere on the truck do I just tap the wires in the trucks main harness under the dash (find the color for the function match it up with the propper crime stopper wire). I know I have to match up what is what, but that should not be hard since I have the wire color guide off of here. Do I use like those 3m taps that don't cut the wire? I understand car eletrical basicas, jsut not to keen on car alarm Thank you for any help -Will

Yes, you have the right idea. I suggest using solder and tape, but it's up to you the installer as to what you want to use in the end. YOu will need to install 2 relays for the actuators to work with the CS system.

from the look of that one you already have a relay module so you will connect your negative lock/unlock outputs to the negative input of the relays they provide in the kit.

looks like i am in for alot of learning, thanks fellas for you help, i am jsut hoping these actuators anint bad. I am usually good with car electircal, neons, strobes, stereo, just never did somethign like this. again thank you

one more thing guys does anyone have a how to on how to install door actuators (not wiring just actuators in the doors what the connect to, or what the locking bar connects to) step by step, i get the idea but would like a large base of knowledge before i jump into this, hey by the way anyone know if this can be done in a focus with a cable lock system.

Basically you need to take a look at the locking mechanism and notice the way the metal rods work. Then, you need to find a suitable location that you can mount the solenoid so that it is parallel with one of the rods. Then you need to take the small metal block with the holes in it and slide the aftermarket rod through the hole, and the open sided groove goes onto the factory rod, and then after you have secures the solenoid and made sure everything looks like it will move smoothly and without ostruction. you can tighten the screws so secure the rods together. Sorry for such a primitive and detail-lacking description. It is quite straight forward, and once you get the door panel off its pretty obvious what you need to do.
