Hi Guys, I was wondering if I need to use a relay on my driving lights.  I see everyone recomends using one, but is it really a must???  My lights are 55 watts, 12V.

Hmm using ohms law 55 watts divided by 12.6 volts gives you 4.4 amps times 2 bulbs = 8.8 amps (assuming only 2 bulbs come on when you turn your driving lights on..)..Now you didn't really say what exactly your hooking up is it a keyless entry or alarm or what? Either way it's always recommended to add a relay when your hooking up something other than the park lights (mainly headlights) but technically I think most modules will support it. Could always test the amp draw to be sure but you may want to just play it safe and throw in a relay..Good luck,

Mike

You could use the parking light output if you are only hooking up the driving lights(make sure it is fused). If you are hooking up both parking lights and driving lights you should use a relay.
