I just finished installing an impulse autostart/alarm.  It has the LCD transmitter wih the two way connection and I can not figure out how to learn/program the transmitter.  The box came with two transimmiter one LCD and one regular.  The regular works but the other will not?  Is this something new.

Thanks Salvatore

What does the manual say about programming. If it is the same model as the Commando FM-5005, they have the manual online.

FM-5005 Install Manual

You should have to enter proramming mode and then go to step 22 I beleive.

That is wierd though, the transmitter should be programmed out of the box. Is there an extra box that plugs into the module then the receiver plugs into that? I cant remember if they all have that or not.

O.k. I am now finishing up an install of a impulse pro5005 which is the same as a commando FM 505, Thanks to this board and the great help from people.  My next problem is the valet switch was sent without the swich, just the wires and two prong end was in the box.  Can I use any swich from any alarm.  What would be my requirements if I went to Radio Shack or an alarm dealer?

Thank You

Salvatore

Just a normal push pin switch will do, you can get then at any local radio shack store.

I apoligize, I forgot to put this in.  I want to bypass the valet swich so the alarm is on until I get the switch.  Should I splice the wires together or leave them seperate?

Installing a Impulse pro5005 in a 94 Grand Cherokee and ran into a few snags.

1. The alarm has two grounds.  One hard and the other ground when running called remote start output.  How do I connect this?  Does this mean it is a ground only when the car is running?

2. I belive the door pins/trigger is neg. so which wire off the alarm do I splice in, the neg or pos. doo trigger pin on the alarm and where do I find this wire?

3. The jeep has a neg dome light trigger and the alarm has a neg trigger but the light does not work.  Does that mean it needs a relay?

4. Does the horn need to be connected even If there is a siren?

Ground out when running is to trigger relays. It is an output only when the RS is on.

Use the negative door trigger output from the FM-5005 since the door trigger on the Jeep is negative

Use a relay for the dome light.

Horn is optional.
