Hey All,

I'm new to this site.  I hope someone can help me with this.  I have an Autopage RF-502 alarm that I installed on my 1997 Pontiac Firebird.  I never connected the trunk release or door lock features, but wanted to do so.  Here's some questions I had:

1. From the database, it says to use the BLACK/ white(+) wire.  My alarm instructions show connections for a positive or negative pulse release.  I'm assuming the BLACK/ white wire is positive, but is my release a positive pulse or negative pulse type?  I've seen some documentation that it is a negative pulse type, but then why do you connect to the BLACK/ white wire +?  Can anyone show how I would connect the trunk release to my alarm?

2. I need to wake up the BCM for the door locks.  Do I have to do this for the trunk release as well?

Thanks for the help!  Very much appreciated!!!

You will have to test the output of the Autopage with a DMM or light tester. Place tester to ground and then probe the target wire and activate the trunk release with the remote control. If the light  goes on or the DMM flicker to 12 volts then you have a + output on the trunk release. If this is the case then hook it straight up to the switch. If you have a (-) trigger then you will need to reverse the polarity of the trunk release wire from the alarm by using a relay in this configuration:

  • 86+87  : 12 vots constant
  • 85 : Trunk release (-) output
  • 30 : To trunk release wire ( + ) output

The BCM doesn't need to be activated for the door locks if you go straight to the motor wires. The trunk release you just need to wire to the switch.

There is a relay in the passenger kick panel that you would want to go to otherwise the BCM may not want to work properly without being activated. The relay will energize with the new wire going to it and then you won't have any problems.
