I found a little step-by-step in the forums here for an '01 L200 and was wondering if this would be the same procedure I should follow on my SC2. Can anyone verify that this will work for me? If not, how do I alter it to make it work? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's the text I found: 1) 3 7mm bolts under the steering column, then the column shroud comes off. You can see the wires there, and they will look impossible to connect to. It is a little difficult, but not impossible. 2) With everything in place, poke the wires with your meter or test light and test them. Take notes, because during the next step, you won't be able to test them again. 3) Next, turn the key off and remove it. You can then unplug the ignition wires from the key cylinder, and you'll be able to stretch them down so there's juuuust enough room to work with them. 4)I'm not sure about what information DesignTech has, but for the L-Series, you have to power up everything----including both the brown and the orange accessory wires---or the climate controls won't operate with remote start. (Actually, I do have a little trick where you don't have to power up the brown wire, if you are comfortable messing around with things.) And don't forget the keysense wire too. Also, while you can get the parking lights at the steering column too, it's never any fun; there's an easier way. You can get brake and parking lights both in the harness in the driver's kick panel, the harness that runs to the rear of the car. Also, the Passlock wires are somewhat hidden on this car, but they're there. Imagine yourself looking straight at the keyhole of the ignition switch, and then look at the one o'clock position---that's where the Passlock wires are. I've done a bunch of the L-Series, so let me know if you need anything else. | ITEM | WIRE COLOR |POL| WIRE LOCATION | Note: This vehicle has the passlock II immobilizer system that, when adding a remote start, must be interfaced with. Use DEI part 555t or 555L. Note: The lt. green key sense wire at the steering column must see a ground during remote start to keep the "SERVICE" light from coming on. *1 The drivers door is gray/black. The other doors are BLACK/ white. Both wires are in the gray 24 pin plug at the BCM. Use both wires and diode isolate each. *2 The BCM is located above the glove box. *3 On the 4 cylinder models, use PURPLE / white at the ignition module on the driver side of the motor. On the 6 cylinder models, at the ignition coils on top of the cylinder head on the drivers side of the motor, use any one of the three wires that is not pink or black. *4 Can also use BLACK/ white (+) at the BCM in the gray 24 pin plug. *5 The amplifier in under the driver side dash above the brake pedal. *6 Low beam is high current negative, must use relay. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks in advance for any information provided! ------------- Thanks a bunch! Bax Replies: Posted By: JWorm Date Posted: November 06, 2003 at 8:03 PM I thought they stopped making the SC2 in 1999. My mother even has one. Didn't they become the S200 or something similar?

I'd like to find that out for sure (if they renamed them). Thanks for your help. Every bit of info on this is going to help. It's going to a big job to get this thing installed... ------------- Thanks a bunch! Bax |
