i was wondering how to hook up doorlock actuators. i have never had to use them in any alarms i have done before. i got a 91 honda civic coming in next week for alarm/keyless/remote start. it does not have power locks so i have to use actutors for it. the DLA's have 2 wires, one green and one blue coming out of it. could someone tell me how these things are hooked up? thanks

first of all those actuator are reverse polarity motors.
look at actuator/reverse polarity
good luck!!! ------------- Houston,TX

ok, that doesnt look too hard to do, thanks for the help. i guess the only tricky part would be mounting the actuator.

one more question, does it matter which wire rests at ground and which wire gets +12v? one wire is green and one is blue -------------

i dont quite understand your ?....but i assume youre asking about the relay diagram...
the green and blue wire: both intend for (-) input. theyre not for rest at ground, theyre input for a switch or unlck/lck from alarm unit. theyre not for +12volt
the two 87 should be fused
keep askin if you dont understand
good luck!!!

but doesnt one of the wires coming from the actuator have to see +12v and the other pulsed -12V?

No they both rest at ground, when you hit lock one of the wires goes +12V, when you hit unlock the other wire goes +12V. The motor isn't polar. When one wire has power and the other has ground it will move one way and when they are swapped the motor will move the other way

reference to the above link.
hey auex, hes talkin about the alarm unlock/lock output(blue and green wire), not the 87a. 87a is rest at ground
hmm...if its not polar then the motor wont do anything then? am i missin out on something?

It looks like he was talking about the actuator itself. As far as polar, the actuator doesn't care which wire is positive and which wire is negative. There is no specific wire for +12V and ground. ------------- Certified Security Specialist

so i guess i can just touch to the battery and figure out which wire needs to see +12v to lock and then it would be the other one that needs +12v to unlock. just dont wanna have it backwards. and both wires rest at ground. oh and the blue and green wires i meant werent the lock/unlock wire outputs from the alarm. those are the two wires that are on the actuator.

Yeah just test the wires after the actuators are installed. Which ever wire is positive on the battery when it locks is going to be the wire that goes to the lock relay and the same goes for unlock.

cool, appreciate your help. so to sum it up...both wires on the actuator rest at ground, and one of them gets pulsed +12v to lock or unlock and i can figure out which one by touching it to the battery?

Once you install the actuator, use your battery to find out which wire will make the door lock, the wire that is on positive side of the battery when you touch it will be the lock wire, and the same for the unlock. Sometimes the wires will reverse depending on how you install the actuator.
