I have a 2002 Ford Ranger and currently have an aftermarket alarm/remote starter with actuators installed.  I am however looking to add power locks(actuators) to my tailgate and hard bed cover.  I am looking to control those new locks independently with a switch.  I could simply just tap into the wires for my actuators and be done with it but I do not want it to lock/unlock everytime I lock/unlock my truck.  So My solution is to control it with a switch.

I am relatviely confident on how to wire the actuators to the relays, but I cannot figure out how to get them to work off of a switch.  I intend on using a momentary ON-OFF-ON switch.  Is it really just as easy as going from the pole on the switch to the pole on the relay that says "lock/unlock output from alarm? (85, 86)  If its that easy then I think I know what I am doing, but for some reason I dont think its that easy.

My confusion is coming from the switch end and how it energises the relays.  The switch will have a 12volt constant on it and if thats all I need and it will work, then I guess I do know what I am doing.  But I would also like any feedback that you can give because you guys would know if it will work or not.  Thanks in advance!

If your actuators have 2 wires, then you should set the relays up like this: Look at the diagram for adding Actuators (4th one down)

Instead of going to the (-) outputs from the alarm, you just need to put those 2 wires on you switch, and then the middle wire from the switch just needs ground.

Thanks JRILLA.  Thats the diagram I was using to hook up the actuators.  The only thing I was doing wrong was hooking up the switch to a 12v+ instead of Ground.
