Is it ok to use 2 DataBus interfaces at the same time? I plan on using  a GMDL4 and a PLDATA in a remote start install on a 03 silverado.

I just want to make sure having 2 on the databus wire won't cause any problems

You bet, I have done that myself.  Makes the install much easier.  Using the GMDL4 will save you tons of time, and headaches.  Good choice on the PLDATA also.   Have fun, solder all connections, and test all wires with a DVOM, not a test light.   What remote start are you installing?

Thanks for the info, I just didn't know if they would conflict with each other.

I am installing a Valet 552T. I've installed many alaroms before just never ran into using 2 databus modules at the same time

With the GMDL4, will that control the parking lights also?

Thanks again

Nope, just the factory alarm, and the door locks.

I agree, you should definately solder the databus connections.

So you can simply just connect the Databus outputs of the two modules together? Then connect those to the vehicle's databus? Howabout if you add a third module like WIN-DATA for the electric windows?

Why not? As long as they are connected correctly there should be no problem.

no no no!!!!  you don't "just connect the databus outputs"....the GMDL4 will control the factory security system and doorlocks.  The PLDATA is still required to bypass the Passlock II thats on the vehicle as well.  They work in different ways, for different purposes.  DO NOT CONNECT THEM TOGETHER.

Simply install them one at a time, following the instructions....You may need to double up the ground out wire from the starter, but thats about it...just did a 04 Avalanche this way....PL2003 module for the passlock, and GMDL4 for doorlocks/security.  Worked great....

PLDATA, and the GMDL(1-4) BOTH hook up to the purple wire (data) on the OBD2 connector.  Yes you can hook them together (IE>... same ground, same power, same - control from the remote start), it is a databus line, and mutiple data can be broadcast on the same line.  I have done this many times.
