Okay, so I installed my Crime Guard 745i3 today on my 1994 Ford Explorer, with mixed results... The parking lights do not flash when arming/disarming, the doors do not lock/unlock, and the shock sensor does not set off the alarm (warning chirp or full alarm), even though I turned the sensitivity all the way up and the sensor itself is showing the zones as being triggered. Does anyone know what could be causing these problems? I am almost positive that I wired the locks wrong... The lock system is power and is "5 wire reverse polarity", so I need to splice into both the driver's side and passenger side lock controls, correct? Could someone explain this in more detail? The schematic gives me the impression that I have to cut these wires and splice the brain wires to the portion of wire that goes to the switch? As for the parking lights, I am stuck. I spliced into the brown wire in the light switch like the diagram said (there were 3 - I tried each one), and none of them worked. The shock sensor, I have no idea why it won't work. The motion sensor works very well though. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

- BROWN wire for the lights has to show 12 volts when light are on. Check this with a light tester or a DMM.
- If your Explorer came out with a keyless entry module then you have a positive door locking system. If it did not then you have a reverse polarity system where you will have to splice into the door lock wires on the door and add 2 relays.
- The shock sensor may be defective from the factory. Test the output wire on the sensor to make sure that you get a ( - ) or ( + ) signal on the trigger wire by using a DMM or a light tester. IF the signal is present you may need to get the unit tested or increase the output of the signal with a relay.

The alarm's brain has relays that can control the door lock systems... So I just have to splice into the wires at one door and not both to get it to work? That is what I did, unfortunately... I will check my connections again.

Most of the newer systems out on the market have both negative and positive trigger outputs for the lock and unlock wire to accomodate type A and type B locking systems. You will still need relays though if you have a type C ( reverse polarity system ). You are correct about just splicing into the driver door . The driver door will control the other doors and the hatch ( if applicable ).

hi, you can get the pink / YELLOW and pink/green in drivers kick panel for that car!! if the alarm has built in relays use them to work the 5 wire revers polarity system. cut each one in half, test with a meter for switch side and motor side of each and hook each side to appropriate wire on alarm. chris

Yes, the 745i3 has relays that are capable of controlling all 3 types of systems: 3 wire positive, 3 wire negative, and 5 wire reverse polarity, so says the manual. Chris, Thank you, this is the information I was looking for. So my interpretation of the schematic was correct. So I only need to cut the two wires in the driver's kick panel and splice into the resulting 4 wires? Or do I need to cut them in the driver's side kick panel and passenger kick panel (Don't even know if this side has them) and then splice into one side of each of the 4 wires, leaving the other side without a connection? The first way makes more sense to me, but I want to be sure. Thanks a lot

hi, well you almost have it, when u cut it in half you will have 2 sides motor side and switch side, both ends get hooked up to the alarm wires for each function (lock and unlock) there should be 4 wires coming from alarm brain , lock should have a switch input and a motor input. then the same for unlock a motor input and a switch input! the 2 wires pink / YELLOW (lock) and pink/green (unlock) each get cut in half and go to the correct wire on the alarm brain!! you can find them both in the drivers kick panel! chris

You can find the door trigger wire at the under dash light. It is BLACK/ Light blue and is a positive trigger. Good luck with the install. Brian

even though your alarm has built in relays, as it has been pointed out before you need to use additional relays to interface your 5 wire locking system - DEI makes a 451M lock interface module which makes installing a breeze, it might be something worth looking into
