The door locks should be high current ground negitive triggers. So you have to use a negative signal through relays to activate them.
Lock wire is ORANGE / purple
Unlock wire is pink/purple
Both can be found in the drivers kick panel.
------------- Remember check all your wires with a DMM!

so what would that be called (like once i get home and look at the provided diagrams, what can expect to match what you said up with?) haha i know i sound like the ultimate newb but ive never been a fan of hooking up car alarms, although ive done mine and some friends its not really my expertise like car audio has. thanks though!

Depends on the alarm. If it is DEI you can use DEI part number 451M. I have worked mostly with DEI so i know them good, but from everything else I have only seen a few.
So, what kind of alarm (make and model) are you working with? In any case, you will need relays to make your door locks work. Should just be the diagram that shows you using relays and is a negitive trigger.
Hope that helps, with more info i might be able to help you more.

it would be 3wire negative. this is how you wire the relays up. hope this helps. wire like this: 85-negative lock output 86-+12v fused 30-tap into lock wire (ORANGE / purple) 87-ground 85-negative unlock output 86-+12v fused 30-tap into unlock wire (pink/purple) 87-ground -------------
