Hello,

I have a 96 Astro minivan and I wanted to install a viper 555 alarm on it with remote start. I have connected the alarm without connecting the wire to the tachometer at this time. When I engage the remoter start, I hear the engine cranking but it will not turn over, however if I have the key in the run position it turns over. According to the install manual( they claim I have an acessorie wire and ignition wire reversed. I tested each wire with my meter and it does which each should do. According to your wire diagram, the ignition wire is pink. What should I do? Thanks for any help.

These are your wires:

12V|red                 |+  |ignition harness
STARTER|yellow              |+  |ignition harness
IGNITION|pink                |+  |ignition harness
SECOND IGNITION|pink/white or white |+  |ignition harness
ACCESSORY|orange              |+  |ignition harness

Hook them up and hook up your TACH wire and learn it to the RS unit. This will ensure a proper start.

Do anyone know where I could locate the tach wire for a 96 Chevy Astro van? I would prefer if it is located under the dash since I wanted to prevent any wires going to the engine department in the event the engine has to be repaired.
