Owner of the shop I bought the alarm from in 1997 said he'll send in the alarm.....what is Clifford likely to do? Just fix the output and send it back?? He also mentioned that if it's not fixable they'll replace it w/ a "newer" unit...with me (the consumer) paying 50% of the retail price.

Is any of this true?

Yes, but did they charge him for the upgrade?? Also you think they'd do a damned thing for me since I have no paperwork and the alarm is from '97?

I just did a warranty replacement on a Clifford a few weeks ago. The alarm started turning the headlights on all the time and the relay stuck leaving the lights on twice. I don't live near the shop where I bought my AG3 so I called DEIs customer service they said I could send it in. I think they wanted a receipt and some other information too.... blah blah blah major PITA,I had done the install, or I could take it to a local dealer. Local dealer gave me a quote to pull it out and said it would be $20 to send it in since I hadn't bought it from them. I pulled it out (just the brains and remotes) and gave 'em $20. Week and a half later went and picked it up and it was a complete AG4. It was a refurb unit and it had/has some problems and it looks like I will be sending it back.

BTW: When I picked it up the salesman I dealt with said that DEI doesn't have any of the old clifford units and they don't repair 'em they just replace with a newer model. You'll probably get a 7000.

i bought the my g4 off ebay .. it was brand new in the box ..and all of the sudden the remotes are being picked up.. it just wont pick up the remotes..i tried reprogramming, clearing remotes, etc.. even checking the attenna.. do u think this could be a faulty brain and what chances do u have of DEI helping me with this plm? I dont have receipt of the sale.. and the install i did myself.. thanks guys

TranceTypeR, If you can hook it up to a computer with a Clifnet Wizard you will be able to see what is going on with the remotes (if it is receiving and what is programed etc.). If you need to send it in just find a local shop that will send it in for you. I had bought my AG3 in the box and the shop that sent it in for me never asked any questions. If you send it directly to DEI they will want a receipt.
