i am in the UK and there is a market for remote starting devices and I would like some input of what people recommend. Currently there is very little product available like this. It is illegal to have your engine running and your vehicle unattended on a public road. I think if you have your own driveway, then it would be ok.
Most people would prefer to have one handset for the alarm and not a second handset for a remote starter, so I would be looking for a product that will interface with an existing alarm system.?? Something that can be controlled by an auxillary channel on the handset would be OK.
With regard to bypassing transponder systems, we have very little experience of this. I know there are transponder bypass kits available. Some seem to be vehicle specific ( Pats and Passlock etc) and some are generic wherby you can adjust the device to match the particular resistance of the transponder chip ( is this correct??)
Also, I believe there are systems wherby you can have a duplicate key made and place this in a box, and when the remote start is activated, it looks for this key to bypass the original system. Do these systems operate all transponder systems???
So the bottom line...I'm looking for a product or family of products to bring into the Uk that willl enable me to offer these systems alongside my existing product range.

Nick a passlock system and a transponder system are two totally diferent things a passlock one for example uses a resistor within the key and newer passlocks system uses a resistor in the ignition switch,a transponder system or a pats uses a transponder within the key you are not checking for resistance with a transpoonder sytem. Any of the systems can be bypassed without modules or with them. A transponder needs a key to bypass or there are keyless modules available for some cars. A keyless module for a transponder will read the code from the key and every time it remote starts it will send that exact code to the transponder reciever if the code matches it will start the car. Now as for remote srat stand alones dei makes a lot of units that will use the factory remote of a car and remote start with that .There is also whole alarm sytem/remote starts that will come with a remote and it will control all features of the alarm as well as remote start,and even control the factory alarm at the same time.
Yes the kind of bypass module that takes a key inside of it will bypass almost any transponder sytem without a problem. Dei will have everything you need in alarms ,remote starters, and bypass modules great company and awesome products. the dei model number for thier universal bypass is the 555U this is one that a second key must be placed in the unit and it utilizes an antenna loop that will go around the ignition switch in the car.
