Hey Guys/Girls ,

I was going to attempt an install of a r/s on a 2003 trailblazer when the customer informed me that he wants it on the factory remote. He said that the dealer was going to do it using the same factory keyless remote.

Now i haven't heard of this being done . Is there a way to do it ? If so how would they accomplish this ? There must be a third channel input somewhere right? the keyless remote only has three buttoms ( lock , unlock , panic ) . Any help would be great ....

Well first you need a unit that has an external trigger. Then you need to program it to accept three pulses (Thats a typical option for such units). Then you need to connect the lock wire from the vehicle to that external trigger wire. This way when you press the lock button three times the car will start.

Remember, the range is going to be terrible, and really not worth the trouble. I would suggest to the customer that they should get a complete unit. Buy yourself a GMDL1 and a PLDATA (you will need a PLDATA anyway) and install something with some decent range. If they have a 03 trailblazer they should be able to afford a decent starter. Suggest a 2 way unit.

agreed...the range will really suck.  Avoid using a pair of bypasses and get the DATA1 (GM DATA ALL).  It'll control the passlock II AND the alarm/locks in one module...works AWESOME, and notably cheaper than purchasing the two separately.
