Hi everyone,

I am going to install a remote starter on a 99 Seabring with a factory alarm. Anything special I should lok for or is it a straight forward install? I used to install alarms pretty regularly 5-6 years ago, but it seems that much has changed since then (especially peeking through this site). Any help at all is greatly appreciated. My main concern is bypassing the OEM alarm, I have never had to do this before. Also, can you guys suggest any web sites or places, I am in NY, to go to for alarms, wiring, relays, etc. I used to deal directly with Excaliber, now Omega I believe. Thanks again in advance for any help. The site is great!
Have a good weekend guys!

Thanks,
Brian

the most difficult thing to over come will be the anti theft in the key , does your key have a black top or a gray one, if it is gray then you will need a bypass to remote start the car.

Hi guys,

I need a little help with an install that I did this weekend. I installed an Omega "RS-3a" on a 98 Seabring this weekend. The remote starter is controlled by the factory keyless entry system. I programmed it so that pressing the lock button on the transmitter twice within 10 seconds would start and/or shut the car off. Everything was fine. My only problem was that the car would start, run for 10 seconds then shut off on its own! Anyone have any suggestions? Everything else worked fine. Hope someone can shed some light on this for me.

Thanks,
Brian

hi does the car have a grey key or black key if it has a grey key it has an immobilizer sytem that needs to be bypassed.  to test put key in ignition and remote start if everything works fine then you have immbilizer most likely

good luck

Hi Kirk,

Thanks for the reply. The car had a black key. I believe it is only a keyless entry system. I could be wrong. Are there any other causes that you know of that would make this happen?

Thanks,
Brian

Hi everyone,

I installed an Omega RS-3a on to a 98 Chrysler Seabring. It is an add on to the OEM keyless entry. The install went well with one problem - The car starts, runs for 10 seconds and then cuts off. Anyone have any suggestions? Please help.

Thanks so much,
Brian

P.S. The car has a black key so I do not think there is any immobilizer.
