96 Dodge Dakota alarm/keyless entry

I need a wiring diagram for a 96 dodge dakota, i am installing an alarm and do not know how to get the locks to work for the keyless entry.

I am installing an alarm with keyless entry. well its a 96 dodge dakota, its a 5 wire system for locks. the wires are lock- ORANGE / violet and unlock- pink/violet. Now those are the colors to the switch, now to the actual actuator the colors are ORANGE / black and pink/black. now when i follow those into the cabin and into its harness, out the other side is the same colors, 4 wires. Ive tried connecting to the door wires from the switch and the actuator, but the keyless entry doesnt move them. I know they are gettin power cause we test to make sure the voltage is going through it. Where do i tap into the wires for the keyless entry to work? Also it says to hook up to the ignition, well which wire of the ignition am i tapping into?

Don't know what type of keyless you have but you will need to cut the lock wires ( coming from the switch not the ones coming from the driver's door motor) and depending on your keyless you may have to wire 2 relays to make this work. You will need to wire them like this if you are using relays.


If you have built in relays then follow the same idea. The output for the motor (from the alarm) goes to the side of the wire (that you cut) that goes to the motor, and the wire that goes to the switch (from the alarm) to the other end of the wire.

i am installin this on a friends truck...k-9 mundial 2. this is basically my first alarm installed...so im learning. i have everything wired, cept the door locks and the ignition wire.

Ok, it looks like that alarm only has negative outputs for the locks. You will need two spdt relays. All you have to do is wire the relays in the diagram that I posted above and it will work.

but see with me being new to it, how do i do those relays...like what do i need to make those relays? also i meant to ask, on wiring to the ignition... which wire do i tap into, wut is the color? is it Dark BLue?

You need to buy them from any autoparts store. For the fused +12V you should tap the alarm's main power wire before the main fuse for the alarm. The -lock and -unlock outputs come from your alarm. Then the door lock and unlock wires are the wires that are coming from the lock switch, you cut these and put them to the pin of the relay that it calls for.
