Installed a remote starter on a 1999 Chev. Venture last week and everything was fine. The guy called me today saying the passkey light was on. Turns out it was the bypass box, just a universal box I bought and programmed a third key into the system. The key sense wire from the box wasn't showing a ground to the vehicle but the car still started. Changed the box and the key sense wire now works but the passkey light is still on. It may be something serious because the remote works even if the bypass is dissconected. Tried disconnecting the main battery but no luck. Any info on resetting the passlock computer or something like that.

passkey for some reson works even if you only have a few wires hooked up, but the light comes on.  If it is corectly hooked up the light will go away.    You need to cut the yellow wire in half and attach 1 wire to the ignition side, and the other wire to the car side.  Then you need negative ground out from the starter, and 1 more wire i believe, can't remember,  I havent done a pass key 3 for a few days,.

I suggest using a keyless version for the Passkey bypass. The induced signal from the OEM key in colder weather may be casing you some problems. The PKG4 or PKG5 have both worked well for me in all my installations for Passkey vehicles. I have done a few Venture vans and have not had any problems with the light coming on with these keyless versions.
