Guys,

I'm getting a remote start, keyless entry, alarm combo soon. I have a weird issue that I just thought of though. In order to start my 93 Cherokee Country (4.0L, auto, 231) you need to pull and hold the brights on (pull lever on steering colum as if you were flashing someone for a cop, but you must hold it in). You cannot start the jeep without doing this. You can turn the key all the way and the ignition will start, but without doing the headlight bright thing you get no cranking. Is this stock, or normal even? Obvoiusly with a remote start I won't be there to pull the brights. Anyone have some thoughts on how to by-pass/ get rid of this?

I Intend on Installing this myself, I am pretty decent at electrical, and bought a manual on installing these into my make/ year. Any help/ schematics would be great.

Thanks,

Todd

It sounds like someone installed a normally open starter kill relay. If you want, you can disable the feature, or you can keep it, but be sure to install the starter output from the RS to the starter side of the kill relay. That will enanle the RS to start the vehicle while if you wanted to start the vehicle with the key, then you would still have to pull the brights switch.

See the relays section on this website for more details on that normally open starter kill.

agreed....just go to the starter side of the kill-relay and you'll have no problems.
