First of all, this is a great site. I have learned a ton from here. I have a Crime Guard 745i3 alarm installed on a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I picked up a Crimestopper RS901 remote start add on unit for next to nothing, and would like to use the same parking light wire as the alarm (at the head light switch) Does anyone recommend installing 1n4005 diodes inline with the parking light wires on the alarm and remote start parking light wire to prevent feedback. When channel two is engaged, it disarms the alarm and flashes the parking lights, while the Crimestopper module turns the parking lights on solid before remote starting. Looking at the program manual, you cannot turn off the parking light flash feature on disarm. Also, where do you guys recommend to get to the gray tach wire? At the pcm, or an injector, and what method do you use to tap into the wire? I dont want to have my serv eng light come on, or cause another problems. Thanks alot in advance!

You cannot add the diode you mentioned, it is only a 1 amp. You don't need to isolate the parking light wires from each other ( only time this is needed is when there are seperate right and left parking light wire, such as in vw and benz). You should grab the tach at the pcm on the passenger's side.

Hey. To the original poster. I'm showing tach as gray/white @ the PCM (located high on the passenger side firewall) OR at the coil behind the coolant bottle. Good luck!
To the secondary poster, first off in the future try starting a new topic with your problem instead of posting it in another non related thread. Anyway it sounds like the problem with your remote starter is your missing an ignition wire. There is more than one ignition wire that needs to be fired up in order to remote start the van. It works with the key on because then that wire your missing has power. I'm showing ignition 1 as dark blue, ignition 2 as BLACK/ white, and ignition 3 as dark GREEN/ red. Find and test these wires to see if they stay on through the crank cycle. If so, you need to power them up as well. Use your units ignition 2 and ignition 3 output if it has it or you may need to add relays depending on the unit. Good luck,
Mike
