i want to put a switch inline to my fuel pump as an extra kill switch, i have a 99 dodge intrepid does anyone know the wire color and location for this also what kind of switch is recomended (a toggle)? thanks

I'm not sure of the color but there should be a fuse for this in the block. You can tap into the fuse instead of the wire, it would be the same thing. Also, you can use the armed output (-) for the trigger so when you are the system it will activate a relay to cut off the fuel pump wire. This will be separate from the starter diable circuit. ------------- Jeff

well, i was going to ask about using a fuel cutoff switch if you have a remote starter, but I think Jeff's post answered my question. I realize that for a starter disable switch (and a remote starter) you can just connect the remote starter after the switch...and you'll be able to remotely start the car. But for a fuel cutoff switch, do you have to use a relay connected to the alarm that will close the fuel cutoff circuit?

Just an idea I was thinking of the same idea and was looking at this switch from NOS, it is a keyed switch so it would be a little harder to turn on if a theif found your fuel cut off switch. I think it is like $20. https://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/Products/NOS/NOSCA/15650NOS.html

Would anyone be so kind as to show how to hook a switch up to the fuel pump wire so you can still remotely start the car? I know you'll need a relay to trip the switch when you remotely start the car, but I'm not sure how. (Oh, and the alarm doesn't have to "cut" the fuel wire everytime I arm the car...I'd just rather do it with the switch when I want it cut.....but I want to be able to remotely start it if I do have the switch tripped.) THANKS!

there are a lot of people on here that know more than me but just a guess wouldn't you put the relay between the fuse and the switch?

yea, I mean, forget the relay for a second....so I just have a switch inline with the fuel pump. Switch on = no fuel pump, switch off = fuel,so car runs. But since I have a remote start, I want to be able to have that switch in the "on" position, but still remotely start the car. So I'm thinking I need a relay that will turn the switch "off" somehow. Do you have to use the "status output" wire of the alarm? Just not sure how to wire the relay. (This question is on another car message board, too, so you'll be helping another whole site of people that have this question too  ).

yeah, and we know what site this is dont we  if your alarm has another acessory output, you could wire it to the switch so that when hit hit the "accesory button" on your alarm it will turn your fuel pump "on" and then hit the remote start button so start the car. dosent SOUND to difficult

Ok, there is already a fuel cut relay in your car that dodge gave you :]. It is a bad idea to use one of those fuse tab insert things mainly because it will really stretch out your fuse terminals and there isn't a fuse dedicated for the fuel pump in your car. You need to go under the hood and look for the PCM (powertrain control module). It will be between your fuse block/ distribution center and your wahser fluid reservoir. In pin 74 of one of the connectors on the PCM, you will find a solid brown wire. It will show ground when you turn the ignition key on. This controls your fuel pump relay. Simply cut it and wire each side of your key switch to each side of this wire (it doesn't matter which). After running your switch wires inside, you'll need to test it. When your kill switch is activated, one wire should show ground with the key on and the other will likely show +12 volts. For your remote start to work, connect a negative ignition output from your remote start (most have one) to the wire that showed +12volts. Next, get a cold drink because you're done! Hope this helps.

hi...thanks for the reply. I do not have a Dodge, though, I didn't start the post. I figured rather than start a new one, I'd just tack on to this one. I have an Integra Anywho, I was told I could tap into the main/fuel relay that's under the dash. I could just cut one of the wires in half, and then wire a switch inline with that. That's peachy. But then the overall question that I had (and others), is how to trip this switch when the car is remotely started...and that's where the relay came into play. I'm assuming I'll need to use the negative output that you mentioned, but I'm still not sure how to wire up the relay to "flick the switch" when remotely started. I'm sure it will be something like the following (this is in no way the correct answer): - 85 = 12v+
- 86 = Ground
- 87 = Negative output from alarm
- 87a = One side of the fuel cutoff switch
- 30 = The other side of the switch
AGAIN, that was incorrect, but I was just putting it down there to show what I mean.

you can turn on the fuel pump and the same place you cut if off.. use your 3rd ign output of the remote starter (usually a ground out) and run your fuel pump off it.. will just be on when remotely started.. relay will look like this: 85 - neg out 3rd ign 86 - 12v+ 87 - 12v+ 30 - out to pump. remember when you cut the fuel pump wire, you are going to have a pump side and power side, may sure 30 goes to the pump side.
