I own a 2000 Taurus. I installed an autopage alam with RS awhile back. I'm using the DEI-555U bypass. The problem is ever since it got cold out, I can't RS the car. The anti-theft light comes on on the dash and no go. So I placed my key in the ignition and RS it just to see, and it started. So my question is, is this transponder bypass kit freezing? Like what is the point of this system if it freezing in cold weather when you need to RS the car? Please help! Thanks!

It's not the module that is freezing rather the chip in the key is not inducing a signal because the key is too cold. The only solution is to have the car's interior temp warmer ( using a car warmer ) or getting a keyless bypass module instead of the key required module your using now.

Would this module work better since it says there is no spare key required? DEI 555P FORD PATS IMMOBILIZER MODULE

Not sure if that one will work, but the one that we use at our shop is the PKU-F2 keyless module. ------------- Jeff

No the 555p will not work in your car the only bypass modual be DEI that will work in your car is the 555U witch is the universal that requires a key (the same thing you have) if it was a 96-99 then a 555F would work but not 2000 and up unless you can find one that a diffrent company makes I think your stuck with the key in a box.

I've had success with wrapping the bypass module in carpet to keep it warmer. Might want to try that. Otherwise, the link above has a keyless bypass for your car. I think consumers can buy direct. If not, you'll have to look around for a site that sells the same bypass or a similar one. Keep in mind, their are 3 different Ford transponder systems, make sure you get the right bypass.

The 2000-01 vehicle uses the Securilock system as it is stated on one of the sites on here.
The 1996-99 use PATS as the immobilizer. Someone please correct me, if I am wrong.

Actually, its called ePATS. Encrypted Passive Anti Theft System.
The bypass I listed two posts above works on it.
Securilock is the system on the Focus and Escape.

The information listed indicates the following vehicles are all Securilock for the following model years.
FORD: 2000-2002 and on = Windstar, Thunderbird, Ranger, Explorer, Expedition, Crown Victoria.

ok, ok, all those vehicles you listed have "securilock". But there are two different versions. The one with the blue oval Ford symbol on the key is the 3rd generation Ford system, and the one with the all black key is the 2nd generation (Focus, Escape, Lincoln LS). The first generation is the older Taurus, mustang, older explorers and expeditions, among others.
DEI only makes bypasses for the first two generations, 555F for the 1st, 555S for the 2nd. Other companies, like the link I included above, make a keyless bypass for the 3rd generation. I used one on a new Aviator. Programs just like the old systems.
