I have a 1996 Chevy K1500 with autocommand 25523 r/s. have problem with run time. Self Diagnosis says control switch shut off. While checking for constant voltage at control switch have discovered that alternator does not seem to be charging while running on r/s. I feel this may be giving false shut down signal as voltage drops. Only problem is why is truck not charging? Ign 1 and Ign 2 wires are correctly connected.1=pink 2=white.
any help appreciated, have also spoke to DesignTech, stumped also
thanks Chris

Is there a pink/white wire in ignition harness?

Yes,it is Pink/white on ign switch side of connector, white on vehicle harness side. Tested for proper operation both sides, connected to white as is easier to access.

Check to make sure that the 12 gauge orange accessory wire is also powered up. This wire often powers up other things than just the heater. Make sure that your ground for the remote starter is into the vehicle's chassis and is clean and free of paint.

Orange accessory wire is powered by correct circuit. Also ground is to dash "shake Brace" bare metal tubing with other factory grounds. One more thing that is odd, if IGN 2 wire is left disconnected, vehicle will run for full 15min programed time. However MIL light will be on, I am told this will set a transmission code.

Any other thoughts ?? I've looked over vehicle wiring diagrams and see no reason for this not to work. I've even added ign 3 to the brown wire which powers up the rest of the accesories, radio, windows etc.

Check to see that you are using the white wire at the distributor for your tach signal. Check the battery terminals aren't loose or corrodded. Put a meter on the battery terminals with the engine running. You should get a voltage of around 14.4 volts when engine is running. Also check for the same reading at the ground and main power wires of the remote starter.

I am not running a tach signal wire(though wondering if it may help) Have not checked voltage at battery, but have at controller. 12.4 and fallingwhen started with R/S, turn key on and voltage jumps to 13.7. Turn switch back off and drops to 12.4 again.

You are either missing an ignition/accessory wire or are powering up one the wrong way. Test all the wires at the ignition switch and duplicate exactly.

Make sure that when you are remote starting that the output you want to each wire is correct, maybe there is something in the programing that changes the output on each wire during remote start.

Check for voltage on the pink wire when its remote started, by what the schematic in the service manual its the one that activates the alternator. could be that its not energized after start.

Should always use a Tach signal when possible.
