I have a Design Tech Int Airwolf 20096. Design Tech distributes this unit as 2 models. 1 that includes a shock sensor and siren and one that doesn't.I have purchased the one that comes with out. Can I buy any shock sensor (DEI) or do I have to use the one made for the Airwolf?

You can use any after market shock / motion sensor. But know you will have to modify the wiring harness at the end of the PJ.If the unit you are looking has a prewarn feature wire, and your alarm does not have one. Simply leave that wire unattatched.Some after market sensors use a simple IC chip to enable you to have a prewarn, through the sensor itself.So there is not a need for the wiring in your alarm CPU.Also, note that some of the sensors have dual adjustments and some only one, to increase / decrease both pre-warn and warn levels.Lastly, mounting and testing is paramount to ensure consistent protection. Always re-adjusts the sensor(s) during cold and hot seasons to ensure proper sensitivity for all area's of the vehicle.

Just wanted to add that if you are adding more than one sensor to an alarm that *only* has one sensor wire.

Please ensure you isolate that second sensor with a one amp 1N4001 diode. This will ensure each sensor is seperately addressed, without any feed-back to the alarm system.

When securing the sensor to the vehicles surface, use sheet metal screws to ensure direct contact, and even coverage.

Using wire ties, double sided tape, and velcro, will only cause erratic behaviour (dampening) and false alarms.

Please keep the sensor(s) away from any HVAC vents which will cause temperature ( plastic pops /creeks ) fluctuations. Also from any power lines, or equipment that can induce RFI / EMI such as radio antenna's etc.

Lastly, to conserve as much power / current for the vehicls starting battery. Only use the *ground when armed* output to activate the sensor.

This will ensure it will come on only during the alarm arming. It will also prevent a add on pager from triggering the pre-warn notices while you are driving.

Can I pick these diodes that you speak of anywhere like radio shack or is this something im going to need to order from someplace.

Also is there a rule of thumb on how to wire the diode in to the circut. (direction of the diode)

and what do you mean by only use the "Ground when Armed to make the sensors active" I always understood that the sensors plugged directly into the alarm and the alarm unit was already set up for stuff like that.

Please excuse my extream lack of knowlege when it comes to alarms.
