I have installed an Automate 435 alarm in a 1998 Toyota Camry and have a problem. I have connected the power locks as follows:

Lock wire from alarm to Light Green of car

Unlock wire from alarm to Dark green of car.

Here is problem, when activating alarm, the locks lock up and unlock immediately (within 1 second of activation)but alarm stays active. It is acting like when you leave your keys in the ignition and you try to lock you car but won't let you until you take keys out of ignition.

If i remove the unlock wire , and activate alarm, the locks lock and stay lock. But once I connect the unlock wire back on, the locks unlock again.

Your help is appreciated.

You grabbed the worng wires. Here are the corerct wires:

POWER LOCK---------------dk. blue/white   |-  |               orange plug bottom of fusebox
POWER UNLOCK-----------dk. blue            |-  |                orange plug bottom of fusebox

The lock wires are about 18 gauge.  They will test only by operating the key in the passenger door lock cylinder, not the rocker switch on the door itself

Sorry I didn't get back to you. Thank you. These are the wires that I needed.

Jeff, I just installed an alarm in a 98 Camry today. I wired the parking +12 output of the alarm to the wire at the bottom of the fusebox (don't remember the color at the moment). However, only the left turn signal blinks, not both. Any ideas?

Jae, the (+) parking lights are in a white connector just below the fuses with the wires exiting out toward you. The wire color is GREEN at the bottom of the fuse panel. If this doesn't work you can use the (-) trigger parking lights which is also a GREEN wire located in the steering column. This will test (-) when parking lights are on. This is the (-) relay trigger wire and will work as long as you reverse the polarity of the parking light output or if your RS has a (-) parking output wire, use it instead.
