Recently got a ProStart Ct-5000 3 in 1 system. The remote start works fine and the door locks are gonna be working soon as I get a relay harness. I am having trouble locating a door trigger for the alarm. I have the diagram for the car but still haven't found the trigger. The door trigger in in the handles of the door, the dome light supervision will come on if The door handle is lifted from the outside. The alarm can't be hooked to that, otherwise the alarm would go off. Is there another trigger that can be used or should I just go and get another door pin and install it in each door.

The manual states I need either a ground when the door is open or +12v when the door is open. I have hooked up the wires to the light in the kickpanel, but no luck. The dome lights stay on for 30 secs, so the alarm is not fully armed. I can open the doors on problem with it armed! IT never did anything. Guess maybe try to use a diode, see if that will help out.

Where is the door pin switch? There is none around the edge of the door.

Just to check, what year is the car? I don't think that the handle would cause the light to turn on if it was a 92. The pinswitches for the doors would also be easily seen if it where a 92.

The car is a 1992 Grand Am. the handle does turn on the interior lights, with a 20 sec timer. The pinswitches are nowhere to be found, I came to to conclusion they are wired to the door latch mechism. I haven't took off the door panel yet to check but I don't see any other way it could be done.

You may still be able to use the white wire at the underdash light. Most alarm systems will monitor this wire after the interior lights go out. The alarm may give you a active trigger warning after arming. The alarm should activate if the doors are opened once the interior light goes out. If you wish to avoid this, then you must use the factory door switches. They are built into the door latch mechanism in each door. The wires are tan for the driver's door, light blue for the passenger door and yellow for the rear doors (4 door only). You must diode isolate these wires. The wires can be found above the driver's kick panel at the chime module. The light blue and yellow wires can also be found behind, below and to the left of the glove box in a connector block underdash. The tan wire may also be a light GREEN/ black coming in from the driver's door. Be sure to test these wires with a meter as duplicate colors are used for other circuits in these cars.
