Hi I am having troubles with a RS999 FM TW1 I have it installed in a 2000 Dodge Durango 4.7 liter w/ keyless entry but w/o factory alarm. I have hooked up the wires according to the Crimestopper techweb wiring color codes. The remote worked fine for 2 starts and then would start sporadically and only with the one way remote. The techs at Crimestopper told me that they had some problems with the 2 ways not wanting to shut off and running down batteries. They also told me to re-learn the one way remote, which I did and the unit does accept the remote but just will not do anything. Sometimes the remote works and other times nothing at all. It almost acts like the antenna is not working properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Did you check the antenna connection?

Yes I have checked all connections three times. Thing is the unit will re-learn the one-way remote but it will not do anything after that. I thought maybe I was in valet mode but have checked and re-checked that also. I still feel that the antenna is the culprit, but here is how I have it wired: - 12 volts + ----- + Battery (both red wires)
- Ignition 1 ------ Dark Blue - Pink
- Ignition 2 ------ GREEN/ red - Pink/wht
- Accessory ----- BLACK/ orange - Gray
- Starter ---------- Yellow - brown
- Black (ground) from module on bolt on firewall
- Brake pedal wire is hooked up
I have checked all wires using a DMM and can not find anything wrong. This isn't my first time installing a remote but first time with crimestopper Thanks

Just another thing to think about. I unplugged the box from the harness and let it sit out overnight and when I put it back in the next day it worked fine for a couple of times again!! Just a question, is there a possibility that I am not showing a big enough drop in voltage to prove to the unit that the truck is off!?? I know I am probably just grasping at straws but the website had where you hook 12V constant to 2 wires in the harness but the installation guide said to hook directly to the battery (recommended). If I change it to tach mode will that help? Thanks again everyone.

A) You presently have (2) problems correct? One being that the RS does not operate when the remote is depressed?
1. Ensure that the antenna is fully extended and not installed within 3" of any metal partitions.
2. Varify that the power and ground connections are indeed sound. Just because you have connected to a piece of metal does not neccessarly mean you have chassis ground.
Please varify / change the grounding point(s)
B) The vehicle does not RS consistently?
1. If you are using the *smart tachless* mode you must first ensure that the power supply is given from the vehicles battery. Sometimes the tachless circuit is insulated from seeing the proper voltage increase it expects to see, if wired to a device which does not waver in voltage.
ie. The unit expects to see a voltage increase of 0.5 volts or more, to *think* the vehicle is running.
2. If you change the tachless mode, to a direct tach signal coming from the PCM, coil, injector, alternator stator, crank shaft sensor, distributor, or ICM.
And the vehicle runs without problems, then you have found your gremlins.

Thank you everyone !! This place is great! I did find the trouble and it was where I had my 12 volt constant wires. The Install book tells you to install both wires directly to the battery, while thier wiring diagram you get from Crimestopper says to hook them to wiring harness. Tried battery first. Changed those to under dash and it starts everytime. Thanks

Great to hear things worked out.
