Subject: Doors Unlock with RS termination
Date Posted: December 24, 2003 at 8:47 AM

I have a Viper 300 ESP with the DEI Valet 551T Remote Start and a DEI 555H Immobilizer, all installed on a 2000 Honda Accord 6 Cyl.  Everything seems to be working great except that the doors unlock when the remote start is terminated.  I assume this is because of the ignition controlled door locks setting on the 300ESP.  According to my instructions this can ONLY be changed with a bitwriter.  Is there a way around changing this setting?  Can I possibly install a relay or diode somewhere to prevent the doors from unlocking with RS termination?   If not, I was wondering what options for the ignition controlled door locks are available? Is there a lock without unlock, or is there a setting for unlocking only with key inserted or something like that?
Thanks for any help,
P.J.

hey pj

you can just use the programing button (make sure its plugged in) and the programing sequence (the manuel link is below)

https://www.directed.com/guides/manuals/ig/viper/N429V.pdf

]follow the directions on page 18-20 the feature you want is menu 1 feature 3.

the bitwriter is an easy way to program the vipers but you should really learn to program with the button because in a jam its helpfull.

.Duckymon, I appreciate the reply but the problem is, if you look and page 21for the explanations of the different options, the first item above the basic features states by the symbol next to item 1-3 that that particular option can ONLY be programmed with a bitwriter.  Thanks for the input.

Does anyone else have any ideas?  They are all appreciated.

OK, Duckmon, I hadn't actually tried to change the setting using the Valet switch.  I took the instructions word for it that it could only be changed with a bitwriter.  After actually trying it , YES I can turn the ignition controlled door locks either on or off. Now the only question I have is: Are there other options available for that item using a bitwriter? Are there more options other that ON or OFF, and what are they?

Thanks,

P.J.

It sounds like you still have the 300 hooked up to the ignition wire. The remote start module should have a wire that supplies the 300 a signal for the ignition. Check to see if this was hooked up in this matter.

AUEX,  I think you hit the nail on the head.  When I installed the RS I didn't disconnect any wires from the ignition on the 300.  Are you saying to disconnect the Yellow H1/7, or would it possibly be a wire from the starter kill relay?

The yellow wire going from the alarm(300) to the starter kill relay needs to be cut at the relay (you need to leave the relay hooked to ignition for starter kill to still work) connected to the yellow wire on the 8 wire harness coming off of the 551t. It is the same harness that has the black(ground), white blue(activation input), lt GREEN/ black(factory disarm), and grey/black(wait to start wire). So just cut the alarm's ignition wire at the starter kill relay and connect it to the remote start ignition output.

Thanks Auex.  I'll give it a shot.  It will probable be a day or 2 before I'll have a chance to get back to it.  But I'll try it and report back.  I figured it had to be something that I had missed during installation as the two should work together.  After your first reply I was looking at the schematics and instructions of both unit and thought that was probably the wire but I wasn't sure and also wasn't sure where to cut or hook up.  What you gave me were great directions.  I hope it works.

Thanks again,

P.J.

I did the same thing the first time that I installed a add-on remote start. No problem.
