ok this is what happened, the other installer that works with me was installing a remote start in a 2001 pathfinder. it has the transponder key. well as most of you know, buying a bypass kit for these is not always needed. with fords, we just take the chip out and tape it to the ignition harness. well he thought this would work with the nissan key too. well it didnt, he was just trying to find a place to put the chip and the key can still start the vehicle and it wont start. he then put the transponder back in the key and the car still wont start!! we need to get this thing working asap otherwise it may have to be brought to nissan to be reprogrammed. is there anyway to reset the factory security system to where the vehicle will start?? please someone help, if we cant figure out a way by the end of today....the car will have to be towed and rental car paid for and have the key reprogrammed by nissan which will cost the other installer who did this about 400 dollars...a good way to ruin Christmas...please some one help. write back asap in here or email me at jimmy071482@aol.com or you can call my cell phone the number is 615-631-4313. thanks

Had major problems with a Nissan Altima. The security system locks when it sees two transponders at the same time. Had to be towed to the dealer - sorry!

Link two. As I am reading into this it seems that you will not be able to reprogram the key/s, it has to be done through the dealership.

well i called audiovox and DEI tech support and they said the same as you guys that we screwed up bigtime...well the other guy did...i had nothing to do with this! lol and that it had to be brought to the dealer...needless to say the customer was not happy about this. well for future reference..how do we get a remote starter on this type of immobilizer system? cause i know that two transponders would also lock the security system to disable the car to start. so i cant put a 2nd key in the ignition harness. so how would i do it? would it be possible to have a key programmed to that car...stick it in the ignition column..and have another key with out a transponder in it...but fits the car..for the customer to use. this way there would alwyas ONLY be one transponder in the vehicle...sounds like it would work...any info on this idea??

You can have two keys in the vehicle at once. When you use a "key in the box" type of immobilizer it isn't always sending the signal to the car. If you make your own you need to make sure that the signal wire is running through a relay to only have it active and sending signal when the remote start is activated. Personally I don't like taking the "chip" out of the key to use as an immobilizer defeat, because there are bound to be problems when the customer either gets a new key made, or even if they use the second key if you didn't remove the "chip" from it.
