Hi
I just bought a brand new 2003 CRV and went with the third-party alarm upgrade that the deal wanted to sell with the car. After 3 weeks of trouble (the alarm was draining the battery), the alarm is finally removed. I was watching the installer removing the alarm, and most parts were very standard: cut the wire, tape the cables to hide the cuts...
Except when he got around to the steering column, where I assumed the cylinder module for the engine immobilizer was located. There were two black wires that were cut, re-routed to the initial alarm installation. So there were two black wires going toward the engine, and two black wires going toward the lock. I was expecting him to join the wires one by one as original, but instead he just joined all four wires and soldered them all together ?
Can anyone with knowlege of the CRV (which is supposed to be the same as the Civic) immobilizer system tell me if what he did is right?
{Steering} ---black---/wires /---BLK-->{ toward engine }
{ lock } ---black---/cut here/---BLK-->{ management system}
All four wires at the cut points were joined together when the alarm was removed. Is this OK?

Unless the alarm was a remote start there is no immobilizer, the wires going to the column are probably for an led or valet button. The wires going through the fire wall are probably for a siren or hood pin.
