the things been in the truck for a couple years so the model of the auto start is a coupoe years old,   problem is it wont  start with the button unless your right on top of the truck , anymore than 8 or 10 feet it wont start?????

Check to see if the antenna may have accidentally been unplugged or replace your battery in your remote control.

both have been done, any other suggestions, i dont know if there is a programable feature for this or now:?????????

putting the excess antenna wire in the headliner can help your range. and if it has or if you can turn off the codehopping in the programming. at least these are a couple things to help with DEI systems

the auto starts have had problems with range in older models, there is a fix,  i will see if i can find it.

i had a matrix rs 2 do that to me, i had to put the remote right on the glass over the antenna to disarm the car.  i pulled the brain and replaced it with a new one.  its been fine for the last two years after that.
