Need Help. I just installed a viper 550 HF alarm and eveything seem ok. The alarm works fine during warmer temperatures, but when the sun goes down and the temperature is in the high thirties, the alarm is dead. The car starts ok with the key and I measure 12 volts across the battery before cranking. I do notice when I push the power door lock button the led lights up. I am totally confused on this problem. I wiggled the wire harnesses for both the car and alarm but no change. ------------- MEH66

how did you connect wires solder or crimps if it is a 550 hf it is also a remote starter

The unit was used when I got it, my connections to the vehicle wire harness is soldered, but some of the connections already made were crimped. Thanks for the reply.

Kirk, What is the better way to connect the alarm? Solder or crimps? I have installed many car stereos and I usually solder the connections and I never had any problems with the connections. Thanks for your help. ------------- MEH66

hi soldering is the only way to go. check connection and check your solder joints sounds like cold solder joint. does it rs when warm ------------- good luck

Is the battery supply 12 volts, or is it above?
ie. 12.8 VDC

Check to make sure you have a good source for ground. Pretty basic, but thats a wierd problem.
