Have been trying to find out why there are problems by passing these systems on late model GM trucks , i have had some good results in just soldering a resistor of the correct value into the passlock wires but also have seen problems with this method over time .does anyone know what may be changing to cause this ? Does the resistance of the resister change with temperture ? i know that some people recomend using the bypass units that are availible & wonder why they might work better . A lot of people do not want to spend the extra money for these units Please help me out with this Thanks

What bypass methods have you tried other than putting a resistor across the the wires which is not a good idea since it could leave the vehicle stranded?

Have tryed the relay & resistor method given by many installation notes provided by remote starter people like Design Tech , Bulldog, ect .These work for a while but in soom cases will cause the vehicle not to start even with the key . just wondering WHY this happens & why it does not happen right away at installation Thanks   LB
