I have a 95 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham which has a resistor in the ignition key. Does anyone know if this vehicle uses passlock 1 or the vats system? Also, what color will the key sense wire be and where is it most likely located? Thank you for any help you can give me. SS
That is VATS. You shouldnt need the keysense wire. What method do you plan on using to bypass the VATS?

I have a PLXR bypass kit for my remote starter. Its instructions say that I do not have to make a connection to the key sense wire for VATS but if it is Passlock 1 then it is required.
Does anyone out there have a wiring diagram for this vehicle? Something that tells you what color wires you are looking for and where they might be located. Thanks.

can you see the chip in the blade of the key??
i think the harness for the VATS in in a orange sleeve under the dash...STAY AWAY FROM ANY YELLOW CONNECTORS OR YELLOW SLEEVES.....THOSE WIRES WILL BE FOR THE AIRBAG!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you very much draasch. Yes the chip is visible in the key blade. What does this mean?
one way to bypass the system is to solder a wire to each side of a spare key to the metal part of the chip.....make sure you dont heat the chip too much...you could damage it......then you can find that orange sleeve that i was talking about....
use this as a reference:
https://wiringinstructions.com/237.htm
find the orange sleeve and trim it back so that you can see the small 22ga wire....make sure you have plenty of wire to work with...cut one of the wires..hook one sideof the the key with wire soldered to it to the car side of the cut wire....the other wire on the key will go to the other 22ga wire...now by doing this you will not have the VATS system active until you put everything back the way it was before you started....you need to have a starter disable relay wired in from the alarm to take the place of the VATS system....if you need to you can call me and ill explain it to you......

Dont solder wires to the key, just measure the resistence of the resistor on the key and buy a resistor within 5% of the value. Then use a relay to interface with the 2 white wires. Cut one of the wires and tap into the other. It doesnt matter which wire you cut or tap.
Pin 30 goes to engine side of cut white wire
Pin 87a goes to key side of cut wire
Pin 87 goes to one side of the resistor and the other side of the resistor goes to the other white wire you tapped.
Pin 85 goes to ground when running from the RS
Pin 86 goes to Ignition or 12v+

if you know what value your chip is, the site i sent you will give you the resistor value and also show you how to hook it up........the other post is just another way you can do it if you are unable to do it with the relay.....
