I'm looking for wiring info for a remote start on the 2004 Colorado/Canyon. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Here's what I have..Still a real new vehicle to have solid info so be sure to test everything to your own standards..

Constant = WHITE/ Black (+) @ Ignition Harness
Ignition 1 = WHITE/ Green (+) @ Ignition Harness
Accessory 1 = WHITE/ Red (+) @ Ignition Harness
Park Lights = Brown (+) @ Headlight Switch
Park Lights = BROWN / White (-) @ Headlight Switch
Brake = Blue (+) @ Brake Switch
Horn = Green (-) @ Steering Column
Lock = Light Blue (-) @ Drivers Kick
Unlock = Dark Blue (-) @ Drivers Kick

It's setup similar to the Saturn Ions. You won't find a starter wire at the ignition switch..For certain remote starters that won't work since they need to read a certain resistance on the starter wire. I would assume the bypass would be similar to what you do to ions as well but I'm not sure offhand. Good luck be sure to update us with any info you come up with!

Ok, so I'm assuming that it also uses Passlock 2, can anyone verify this? I have a DEI555L, anyone know the color/location of the resistance wire that needs to be connected? Also, if there is no start wire on this vehicle, what do I use for the RS starter activation output? TIA

I am not sure, but I think the vehicle uses a system similar to that used in the Saturn Ion. It is a revised version of Passkey II.   The correct voltage on the Passlock wire tells the computer to activate the starter relay and therefore the starter. I am not familiar with your module , but I know of a module PL 2004 that does do teh Ion. Good luck and post your results if you can.

OK, there are only 5 wires that come out of the key cylinder. I have verified batt(+), Ign, and Assy(+).
The only two left are a wht/blu & wht/yel. The blue I think is key sense, I get 12v when the key is inserted, 0 at acc position, 4.5vdc at run, and 0 at start. The yellow I get 4.5v at run and start. Now get this- The truck will attempt to start in the run position if I probe either of these wires to ground to try to read resistance. The passlock will then keep the truck from starting for 10 minutes with the key. I'm totally confused at this point, anyone got any ideas?

UPDATE-
I've found a bypass module available at bypasskit.com
It's called the PLXR and is wiring specific for the Saturn Ion, which appears to have the same Passlock setup as my Colorado. The two wires I mentioned above that attempt to start the truck if probed to ground, go into a connector under the column and come out as white and WHITE/ black. I'm assuming these correspond to the two Passlock wires on the Ion. I'll post on how it goes once I get the module installed.

a 555L will work.   If your a dealer, DEI has a tech tip on how it gets wired. Log onto directechs.com and look for it.

No connection to a starter wire is needed.

Todd,

Someone over on carsound.com mentioned a way to do this car with a standard Passlock module such as the DEI 555L or Audiovox AS-GM4.

https://www.carsound.com/UBB/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=001895 scroll about halfway down to the post by Extreme1.

On your Colorado, I know the wire colors are going to be different, so you'll have to test a little.

One of those two wires will be 5 volts all the time---that's the 5 Volt Reference wire. If using the 555L, you do not have to touch this.

The other wire will show changes when you insert the key and turn it to different positions. This is called the Off/Run/Crank wire. You will need to cut it in half and connect it to the 555L as shown in the diagram.

Yeah, I installed the RS yesterday using the PLXR and everything worked out fine, it works very similar to the DEI 555L. I had heard the 555L would work, but I couldn't find any wiring specific diagrams and spent an hour on hold with DEI tech support and still didn't get any answers! Guess I should of held off a day or two till you posted, LOL.
