Hi...I just installed a Prostart starter into my 98 GMC Jimmy.......when I press the remote button, the starter will turn the engine over but only for 1 second and then it shuts off. Any ideas on which wires to double check or where I go from here..... thanks in advance.......g.

Did you hook up the tach wire, or did you go tachless?
If your car has passlock or something like that, did you use a bypass kit? ------------- Q: What's the best nation in the world?

I have the tach wire hooked up (tested and it has a good signal.....about 1 volt that increases relative to how much the accelerator is pressed). How do I find out if my vehicle has a passlock? If it does, where and how do I buy and install a bypass kit?

The 1998 Jimmy has Passlock II On it. The truck will not start or stay running at all if the Passlock system is not bypass properly. To test, start the car with the key and if your remote starter has a function that allows you to press the starter button or any other button to allow the car to stay running while you remove the key, then you know that you have all the correct wires, just need to bypass the Passlock for start.

im guessing you got that from canadian tire?? They should carry the bypass, the canadian tire in my town installs them , so they need the bypass's too. So just go ask them,,,or go to another car starter/alarm shop and ask for a pass lock 2 bypass.

Audiovox makes a bypass module and so does DEI and autopage. You can also use a relay to bypass it. Look for the thin wires from the key.Black(ground),RED / white(12 volt).yellow is the trigger.find the resistance and between the black or sometimes ornge/black and the car side of the yellow wire. make sure the e-brake is set and the car is in D or the computer will LOCK-UP for about 15 min.
