Thanks David

One more question

I'm putting a remote start on my manual transmission Ranger.

How do I bypass the clutch safety switch (the switch that makes sure the clutch pedal is depressed before starting the truck)?

Or  does the remote start bypass this switch?

Thanks again for any help

if you check the clutch at the switch, test the wires coming off it. see which one need what, either neg or pos.

Gray / YELLOW would be your 2nd ignition

if you have more than one gray / YELLOW then that would be your 3rd ignition.

Yor remote starter wire would go to your RED / light blue wire in your factory harness of your truck.

its funny tho how 2nd ign is defined.

They gray / YELLOW comes on in the ign posistion, but dies out during cranking, so it's safe to power the wire as an accessory wire.

Also the 2 gray / YELLOWs are common thru the switch so you only need to power one of them.

I'm installing a remote start on a 2001 Ford Ranger and I'm having a problem with the loop that goes around the ignition switch.

Where is the best place to put this loop for the transponder I see a wire that goes around the ignition switch with blue clips  and that's where I put the transponder wire but it does not want to stay on there close enough to get the range that is needed to send the siginal to the trucks wire.

Also every time I put back the cover on the truck's steering colum The loop gets all messed up somehow and it does not transimtt the key code to the truck so the truck can start

Thank you for any help

Can you put the 12v+ power wire from the Rs on to the wire for the truck's starter power hot all of the times (01ranger)?

Where is the best place to put this Rs module on my 2001 ford ranger where it will fit? It's one of those long Rs modules

Thanks

This will tell you where to hook your wires up and what color. Put the module wherever you can fit it but, keep in mind you want the antenna wire as high as possible. Im not familiar with this unit so I dont know if it has the windshield type antenna or not.

instead of hooking the RS into the battery for power can I hook it up to the ranger's" yellow constant +12 volts wire?

Also the RS wants a relay to the horn of the truck but can I just put it to the YELLOW /GREEN (-) wire so the RS will activate the truck's horn relay(will I be on the right side of the horn's relay)?

Will I need to tie into the clutch wires for the Remote start to work or does the RS bypass this system somehow allowing the truck to start without the clutch pedal pushed in?

Thanks for the previous info I needed the horn wire

thanks again

why are you suing a 555u to do the install, use a 555f and no loop is needed.
