Hi,
I've recently installed a Valet 561T remote start on an 03 Maxima with success except for the trigger for the remote start. The trigger for the remote start needs to be hooked up so that it sees the key fob LOCK command multiple times. I tapped this trigger into the ORANGE / white 'lock' wire at the driver's door switchbox, which I'm assuming is the driver's door module as referenced in most wiring diagram sources. If I put the key in the driver door and lock it twice, the signal is correct and the remote start commences. However, the keyfob doesn't work the same way......two presses of the LOCK button....you can hear the relay in the SECU clicking....but the signal obviously doesn't go all the way up to the door because the door mechanism does not attempt to lock and the remote start does not start.
My question then is do I need to hook this trigger up at the SECU and find the signal that is tripping the relay? Does anyone have the pin outs for the SECU? Suggestions would be much appreciated!
Thanks for the quick feedback. I ended up going back down last night and using a relay to convert the + signal of the "lock motor" wire out of the SECU to the needed - signal the remote start wanted to see. I didn't initially make the connection that the 'motor' being described was the lock mechanism! Turns out that worked great!
For the record maybe.....for a 561T type remote start.....use the (+) trigger input and splice it into the LOCK MOTOR output from the SECU (gray). I'll end up changing the input from the relayed (-) to the (+) in the interest of saving the relay.
Thanks again
