hey everyone...first post, awesome resource! i have installed my ultrastart in my car with all the wires connected, everything besides the clutch bypass. 2 things, i want to know the real way to bypass the clutch for this system not to short the two switches wires. also when i do try to start the car with the remote it gives me the diagnostic error 'not in reservation mode' what does that mean?....i also installed a reed switch on the stick and connected that to the hood pin input and the alarm is working great in the car.

also im sure someone well say to test the clutch wires for polarity and voltage how do i go about doing that with my multimeter.

thanks!

take the reed switch out it is not necessary the clutch switch should be bypassed using a relay to complete circuit on the two wires.not in reservation mean that you did go through proper sequence read owners manual to tell you how to do it can't remeber for sure on ultra starts i think you  set park brake with car in neutral then shut car off it will stay running get out and shut door and lock it should shut off it won't stay running when you do that check your hood pin wire for ground when hood is closed and readjust as necessary.

good luck

hey everyone...i have my negative clutch bypass all hooked up to an ultrastart 2256M. the only connection im not sure on is the +12v lead. i originally connected the starter wire from the module to this lead on the relay but when i go to RS it gives me a 'tach detection error', although it tach learned correctly. what wire am i suppose to connect to the 12v lead?? thanks in advance

hey, i just hooked up my relay for the clutch bypass in my remote starter. i wanted to know how i hook up the +12v lead on the relay. do i hook that up to the 2nd starter or ignition wire from the module...or do i tap into the 2nd ignition wire that you would usually hook up to the 2nd ignition wire @ the ignition switch? thanks

Does the cold side of your clutch switch read 12v or ground?

Someone pass me that bottle.

umm one wire reads ground all the time and the other reads ground only when the clutch is pressed..i used this relay, https://www.velocitymotorsport.com/images/install_notes/107.jpg
i just dont know how to hook up the +12v

Did you do a starter kill? If so you'll have antigrind assuming the orange wire is programmed for ground when running and ground when armed. Its in the book....try reading it....

Read switch? wtf....get rid of it. Did you not see the part about the exit sequence.

The clutch bypass method has been explained many times here recently.

i might be confused after looking at that diagram again...am i suppose to hook the 12v up to a constant source and hook the "ground out when running wire" to something that goes ground when the ignition is turned on? confusedposted_image
