use a multimeter to test what polarity current in running through the wires at lock or unlock. if its three wire negative. the wires will have no current through them at rest. then when u lock or unlock, it will show a negative 12v pulse. im pretty sure its 5wire though. but use a meter to make sure

if the vehicle has keyless then the locks are positive pulse,if the car has no keyless then they are 5 wire reversed polarity, which will require 2 relays to work.

cavaliers are 5 wire if they arent keyless. if you pull the door card off (if you happened to be doing a speaker install), youll see the 3 wires going to the switch, i think they are light blue, white, and orange. cut the light blue and white and use the two relays with a constant wire and youll make the 5 wire. if you dont want to mess with finding the wires in the door boot, just take the drivers door card off and wire it up at the switch, its not hard to run wires back into the car on cavaliers.
