background: I am getting a new alarm to replace my crappy alpine. I would like all of the bells and whistles as they say. I want a 2 way pager system with the longest range and a remote start. It is going into a 95 probe with a 5 speed tranny. I will be doing the install myself because of the install cost. I considered the compustar, but people have steered me away from that one.

Viper 791xv -- 2 way pager, good for 1/4th mile. I have heard and read this is a good alarm system. Range doesn't seem so great. I have heard of this system, where the Lynx I have not.

Lynx 2000R -- 2 way pager, good for 2 miles. realistically probably only a mile, but longer range than the viper. Warrenty is still intact if installed by me.

I am leaning toward the Lynx, but I have never heard of this company.

does anybody have any input? Anything I am missing? Or even a better system that i'm not aware of?

Thanks a lot for any input, there are so many products it is making my head spin. :)

try the ultrastart u4500 about 1/2 mile and just a better product than lynx, where is no real need for 2 mile range it still probally wont work that far from a mall or sutch and the 4500m is so easy to install trust me been installing 14 years
