I installed a ***** in my Altima. Everything went fine. Then the next day, I decide to redo the connections and tape the wires up for a cleaner/oem look. Now, it takes me 3 tries to start the car.

When ignition is in ACC, all electronics work. I crank and the starter goes for a split second, then shuts off, like there's no power. So I let go of the key and return to On. All electronics still ok. I crank again and nothing. However, if I turn back to ACC or Off, then try again, it'll crank a lil farther, then stop. The 3rd try is a charm and starts fine. This happens when the car is warm or cold, car runs and idles fine, all electronics work properly.

So could this be related to my re-wiring? I didn't change anything except the starter relay from normally open to nomally closed. But that shouldn't affect the starting. Any ideas? Thanx!

Jae

ok, figured it out. when i originally installed the alarm, i had it as normally open. then when I re-wired, I set it back to normally closed. Then I forgot to tell the brain that I changed it back to normally closed.

Hey cpgose: look at this diagram( https://www.the12volt.com/relays/relays.asp ) for explaination of the N/O and N/C . If the starter is in the N/O then it will connect whatever is attached to pin 30 to 87 but when it is closed it will connect whatever is in pin 87a ( N/C ).
