I hope someone can shed some light on my minor, well ok....major problem....Here Goes..... Vehicle: 99 Dodge Ram V6 Auto Trans Alarm: Avital Avistart 3300 Problem: I'm finished with the install, EVERYTHING works perfect, except for the remote start. When I remote start, the vehicle starts up, runs for less than a second and immediately dies. When I check diagnostics on it, the alarm is giving me a "no tach signal shut down." When I try to teach the alarm the tach signal, the LED light on the unit never lights up, therefore it is not "learning" the tach. I'm pretty sure I do not have the correct wire for my tach signal. All diagrams that I have read for this vehicle tell me to use the "BLACK/ grey wire on the coil. If I use the BLACK/ Grey wire comming off the coil (close to the fan belt, also an orange wire next to it.) I get 29 volts A/C. The manual says I'm looking for a 1v to 6v signal. Some diagrams tell me to use the BLACK/ Grey wire that is on the Powertrain control module behind the distrobution block, but this wire does not exist on my vehicle, even though there is 1 wire that does read A/C voltage thats Grey/White. Even so this wire reads close to 30v ac also, and even if I connect the tach wire to this one it still doesn't work. Yet one other diagram says I can find this wire on the ECM wiring bundle, this wire also reads 29v. I used the grey/black wire thats behind the distro block, I assume the pcm wiring bundle, it reads 29v just like the others and goes down in voltage when you rev the engine. ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank You in Advance, Michael Thank You in Advance, Michael

No, it doesn't have a tachometer, but I did pull the instrument gauges out to see if there was a wire. The instrument gauges have two connectors that insert into connectors behind it. To get to the wiring on these connectors would be a major PITA.

when you say coil....are you talking about the "coil" that is mounted to the front of the engine block, close to the fan belt that has a wire loom comming out of the bottome with two wires(one orange and one BLACK/ grey) with one spark plug wire comming out of the top?

OK, the best tach wire fot his car is if you sue the odd colored wire at the fuel injection coils, so if one injection has orange and blue, and another has orange and grey, you wouol duse the blue or grey. Hope this helps.

Thanks, the fuel injector line did the trick. Now I have two minor problems... 1. No blower motor, I used the BLACK/ white accessory wire every chart told me to use but this is for the radio. I don't think I'm going to need that much with remote start, but A/C and heat sure would be nicer :-) Anyone got another wire I could use? 2. When I remote start, I get a check engine light, an ABS light and a Brake Light. I know that this is because I'm only firing up one ingnition wire. The 4300 has another ignition connection, anyone have any idea which one I need?

You need to hook up the second IGN wire ( BLACK/ ORANGE ) and this should take care of both your problems listed.
