I just installed a dei remote start on a 97 ford f150. its just a straight remote starter. it dosent start on the first try when the engine is completly cold. which doesnt surprise me because the starter is the fact original and im sure it needs replaced soon. It almost always will start on the second start, but when it starts it runs for about 15 sec then shuts off. It starts right up of course when the trucks been ran or its warm out. the system is set to run off the tach. Im a very new installer and im sure this is a rookie problem so please help me get better!!!! Should i set it to run off of voltage? and set it to low voltage??? any help would be apprecated. oh yah, i had to turn the crank time to 1.2 if that is important.

Changing the crank time has no effect unless you are on voltage sense. Did you use the WHITE/ pink wire for tach? Using an injector on those trucks usually gives problems with a DEI system.

I would suggest that you take care of the basics of the starting system first. No matter how good your RS is, or how well it is installed.
If the basics are not there, the vehicle will never RS consistantly.
Give the vehicle a tune up. Have a AVR test done to the electrical system.
A tired battery, spark plugs, cap, rotor, ignition wires, and so on. All affect starting, and reliability of the vehicle.
Take care of the basics, and the rest will fall into place.

its prolly ur cold start injector. if ur car start and able to idle its not any of those ignition components.

I know what color wire on the remote start system the tach wire is, I was referring to what wire you used on the truck for tach.

the WHITE/ pink tach wire is located at the pcm in the engine bay. the pcm is on the passenger side firewall it has one big harness facing the front of the car . If i remember right there was more than one WHITE/ pink wire so test to verify the correct one. After that reprogram the tach using the valet switch and see what happens.
